NPDCI
The National Professional Development Center on Inclusion (NPDCI) is working with states to ensure that early childhood teachers are prepared to educate and care for young children with disabilities in settings with their typically developing peers.
By bringing together the leaders within a state who provide professional development related to inclusion to groups as diverse as child care providers, Head Start teachers, pre-kindergarten teachers, preschool disability specialists, higher education students, and family members.
New NPDCI Resources
NPDCI has developed tools to support cross-sector planning for an integrated system of professional development: Two complimentary tools, based on the National Professional Development Center for inclusion’s (NPDCI) framework for professional development (PD), are available to assist in gathering and summarizing information about statewide PD practices as part of cross-sector planning:
- The Planning Matrix for Early Childhood Professional Development
- The Landscape: A Statewide Survey for Providers of Professional Development
NPDCI has compiled resources within an RTT-ELC framework, primarily focused on workforce issues. The resources may be used to support states in the development and implementation of cross-sector early childhood professional development systems. Resources to Support States: RTT-ELC Framework
Registration is now open for the 2012 National Early Childhood Inclusion Institute in Chapel Hill, NC, May 14-16.
